The Secretary, Ministry of Culture Shri Ravindra Singh will inaugurate the Festival of India in Vietnam on 5th March, 2014 at the Opera House No. 1, Hanoi.
The ten day festival covering 3 cities in Vietnam namely Hanoi, Dannang and Ho Chi Minh City would comprise of a dance festival, a food festival, a Buddhist festival, a Buddhist exhibition, and kalbelia folk dances.
The Sangeet Natak Akademy, the Central Institute of Himalayan Studies, the Nava Nalanda Mahavihara and the West Zone Cultural Centre have coordinated the above events.
Yoga gurus from Department of Ayush and Mehendi artists would also be participating in the 10 day event.
During the visit, Secretary Culture Shri Ravindra Singh is scheduled to meet Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Vuong Duy Bien, Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. He will make a courtesy call on Mr. Pham Binh Minh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.
On March 6, 2014, Shri Ravindra Singh will inaugurate the Food Festival. Senior Dignitaries of the Vietnamese Government are expected to participate in the Food Festival.
Shri Ravindra Singh will visit Ho Chi Minh City on March 7, 2014 and attend the inaugural function of the Buddhist Festival – Buddh Mahotsava at the Pho Quang Pagoda.
During his stay in Ho Chi Minh city he will meet the Vice Chairman People’s Committee Ho Chi Minh City Mr. Hua Ngoc Thuan. Secretary Culture Shri Ravindra Singh will conclude his visit to Vietnam on March 9, 2014.
