Five Year Plan Period Under BRGF to the States
Government has released Rs. 3720.19 crore during first year of Twelfth Five Year Plan that is 2012-13 under the Backward Regions Grant Fund(B.R.G.F.) Programme being implemented by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Answering a question in Lok Sabha today, Panchayati Raj Minister Shri V.KISHORE CHANDRA DEO said, the released amount is 99.63 percent of the total Revised Estimate (RE) allocation of Rs. 3734 crore for 2012-13. 


The Minister informed the House that under BRGF during the Eleventh Five Year Plan Period from 2007-08 to 2011-12 out of the Revised Estimate (RE) allocation of 21627 crore rupees actual expenditure was 21623.46 crore rupees which was 99.98 percent of the RE.

The allocation for the Twelfth Five Year Plan Period (2012-13 to 2016-17) for BRGF Programme stands at Rs.29306.00 crore, the Minister added.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has taken several steps for optimum utilization of BRGF funds like time lines have been set for preparation and submission of the District Plans.


 BRGF funds are required to be transferred to the Implementing Entities(IEs) within 15 days of the release of funds to the Consolidated fund of the States failing which penal interest is required to be paid by the State Governments and as a follow up measure regular review meanings, workshops, video conferences are held with the State Governments.
