Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has directed the concerned officers to constitute a Monitoring Committee headed by Commissioner Garhwal Mandal,

Dehradun, 17 May:
Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has directed the concerned officers to constitute a Monitoring Committee headed by Commissioner Garhwal Mandal, to maintain control over undertaking agencies working on infrastructure development projects under ADB and JNNURM. Chief Minister also asked the officers to prepare proposals for the constructions of subways at Clock Tower, Railway Station and Ashtley Hall.
Chief Minister Bahuguna, chairing the review meeting of infrastructure development works under ADB and JNNURM at Secretariat on Thursday, instructed the officers to prepare proposal on BOT basis for construction of by-pass road from Jollygrant airport to Dehradun to mitigate traffic congestion. Mr. Bahuguna asked them to speed up the process of preparing proposals for flyovers at ISBT, Niranjanpur Sabji Mandi and Saharnpur Chowk.
Stating that the State Government was committed to the welfare of slum-dwellers, Mr. Bahuguna asked the officers to prepare concrete action plan for regularization and infrastructure developments in slum areas. He asked them to constitute a Committee including area MLAs to monitor the works in those areas. Stressing on the timely completion of construction works, the Chief Minister asked the officers to ensure better coordination with the area MLAs and the people affected. He asked them to redress the works stalled owing to Court Stay or Court Order by resolving them through talks with the concerned persons.
Planning Minister Dinesh Agarwal, while, advocating ownership to the people of slum areas, observed that the money generated through it could be utilized in the infrastructure development of those areas. He asked the officers to ensure the Solid Waste Management Works in a systematic way and also to cover remaining 30 Wards under this scheme.
Rajpur MLA Rajkumar laid emphasis on developing areas between Saharnpur Chowk to Rajpur Road as Green Belt area. He also batted for beautification of historical Clock Tower.
Secretary Urban Development Dr. Umakant Panwar apprised about the various projects under ADB and JNNURM through presentation. He disclosed that the time period for development projects under ADB was of eight years from 2008 to 2016. He said that total 31 cities had been identified and the works were to be completed in four phases with the total budget pegged at Rs. 2250 crore.
          The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Alok Jain, Principal Secretary Planning S Ramaswami, Principal Secretary Tourism SS Sandhu and other officers of concerned departments.
