Ultra Super Critical Technology in Thermal Power Plants

Advanced Ultra Supercritical Technology employing steam temperature of 700 degree C is under development in Europe, Japan and U.S.A. Action has been taken for indigenous development of this technology and a proposal to set-up an 800 MW capacity coal-based thermal power plant, using the Advanced Ultra Supercritical Technology is under consideration. The location of that plant is yet to be decided.

The commissioning of the plant has a time frame of 7 years from the date of sanction by the Government of India. This time frame includes 2½ years of research and development work, with the balance 4½ years devoted to actual project implementation.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Power Shri K.C.Venugopal in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
