Stringent measures would be taken against people engaged in adulteration of food items.


Dehradun, 12 May:
Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said that stringent measures would be taken against people engaged in adulteration of food items. He said that the concerned administrative officers had been directed to take action against the defaulters by arresting them and initiating legal proceedings. Mr. Bahuguna said that a high level review meeting would be called on May 14 with the officers in this context.
Chief Minister Bahuguna interacting with the Electronic Media at Chief Minister Residence on Saturday said that a review meeting would also be held in the coming week to make the undergoing projects of NRHM more effective. Pointing out that the financial condition of the state was not good; the Chief Minister revealed that there was deficit of Rs. 14,000 crore in Non-Plan and Rs. 7,000 in Plan. He said that the state government was trying to cover the deficit through resources available in the state. "Government is going to take effective measures to prevent tax evasion. This will help the state government get cent percent royalty from mining sector," he asserted. Stating that hydro-projects were the main source of income for the state, Mr. Bahuguna said that the completion of approved hydro-projects would fetch more revenue for the state and also have positive bearing in the development process of the state. He asserted that the total care of environment would be taken in the construction of hydro-power projects. Mr. Bahuguna said with the support of general public and the workers the development process would be accelerated.
Mr. Bahuguna said that herbal and tourism sectors would be connected with the employment and effective action plans would be chalked out for better utilization of natural resources available in the state so that migration could be checked and state revenue increased. He said that matter would be discussed in a meeting with Van Panchayats on May 14. Mr. Bahuguna said that to expedite the process of resolving issues pertaining to the projects pending due to Forest Act, a Nodal Department would be established in the state very soon. He said that Union Environment and Forest Minister would be approached in this regard.
