UP to release pension arrears to Uttarakhand


Lucknow/Dehradun, 5 April:
Uttar Pradesh will release Uttarakhand its pension arrears amounting to Rs. 1,000 crore very soon. UP has also consented to transfer 21 hectare land for Delhi-Haridwar National Highway 58.
Several important decisions were taken during the high level meeting held between Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at CM Residence located at Kalidas Road Lucknow on Thursday. Both the Chief Ministers discussed the issues for half an hour in a private meeting. Both of them had reached to the decision to resolve long due pension issue. UP Government would pay Rs. 1,000 crore to Uttarakhand Government in installments. This has come as a great reprieve for Uttarakhand Government. The provision of required land by UP Government would pave way for the construction of Delhi-Hardwar National Highway which would prove convenient for the commuters.
Both the Chief Ministers also agreed on exchanging prisoners. This would prove convenient for the families of the prisoners visiting them. Decision was also taken to hold meeting of Chief Secretary level in UP and Uttarakhand to resolve other pending issues.
On the request made by the UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna assured him to release sufficient amount of water in the river during forthcoming Kumbh Mela at Allahabad to maintain the required water level. Very soon a meeting of UP, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh Chief Ministers will be held in Uttarakhand in which a combined work plan would be chalked out for development of tourism.
