Uttarakhand had received Rs. 183 crore from UP


Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain reviewed the meeting held to discuss issue relating to the division of assets between Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh at Secretariat on Friday. He said that after the meeting of Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna with UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav the distribution process had expedited. He said that Uttarakhand had received Rs. 183 crore from UP as pension liability and it was ready to pay the remaining amount. Mr. Jain said that UP Industrial Development Corporation had transferred all 17 industrial establishments located in Uttarakhand to SIDCUL Uttarakhand. He said that 56 percent of the lands of 5 water reservoirs fell in Uttarakhand and UP has consented to handover Sharda Sagar to Uttarakhand for which Coordination Committee of Chief Secretary levels had been constituted by both the states. Very soon a meeting of the Chief Secretaries of both the state would take place, he said.
Chief Secretary Jain said that Uttarakhand had to pay 5 per cent liabilities as per the population to Uttar Pradesh according to the Reorganization Act and UP could not seek more than this. He directed the officers concerned to redress petty issues with coordination amongst the departments and resolve pending matters by meeting UP officers. He said that consensus between both the states had been reached to transfer 9.50 acres of land located at Haridwar to Uttarakhand by UP. He directed the officers to resolve this issue within 10 days.
Chief Secretary Jain said that UP Forest Corporation was expected to pay Rs. 1400 crore to Uttarakhand, while, UP was also ready to pay assets worth Rs. 173 crore out of total assets worth Rs. 203 crore. He laid emphasis on resolving matters by mutual understanding and Court be approached only for the issues which would not be resolved mutually.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Rural Development Arun Kumar Dhaundiyal, Secretary Energy SS Sandhu, Secretary Corporation PS Gusain, Secretary Animal Husbandry RC Pathak and other senior officers.
