The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during 1st April – 30th June 2012 were Rs. 29902.52 crore compared to Rs. 24768.84 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 20.73 per cent.
The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 16804.27 crore during 1st April – 30th June 2011 to Rs. 21205.13 crore during 1st April – 30th June 2012, an increase of 26.19 per cent.
The total passenger revenue earnings during first three months of the financial year 2012-13 were Rs. 7462.20 crore compared to Rs. 6836.19 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.16 per cent.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 759.77 crore during April-June 2012 compared to Rs. 697.39 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 8.94 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during April-June 2012 were 2131.05 million compared to 2028.00 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 5.08 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during April-June 2012 were 1074.81 million and 1056.24 million compared to 1046.31 million and 981.69 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 2.72 per cent and 7.59 per cent respectively
